I have a Kohl's gift card code/pin. I don't have the card itself. Can I use this to shop in person?

A friend from another state acquired a Kohl's gift card and decided he didn't need it. We came to an agreement and the card is now mine. Since he lives in a different state, he couldn't give me the card itself.. he gave me the code/pin numbers off the back and the phone number to call Kohl's to check the card's balance. I know the card is legit, but my question is this: Will I be able to go to a Kohl's store in person and pay for items with the gift card code/pin number, but without the physical card itself? I know I can order things online, but I would like to go to the store myself, if possible. Thank you
