SHop LIFTING and citizenship?? i need help PLEASE?

i was caught shoplifting at Kohl's for a 15$ item...no police was called the LP person took my pic and my driving license and other info ( address,ss#,Phone #) and said that iam banned from that store...and he said that i will receive some mail ( i guess the civil demand)....since no police was called do i have to go to court???...i am in Illinois i am on green card... i am here in US since 2007...i will be applying for citizenship in 2013..will i face problem that time..PLS ADVICE... i am still repenting for what i did...
