Accidental hit and run?

So basically, was pulling into a spot in a parking lot at Kohl's and accidentally nicked a car that took a little paint off his car and put some on mine basically. Well I didn't have anything to write down on and I had to go in the store for an interview, so I just parked and went in. When I came back, there were no messages or anything on my car, and the car that I had hit had left. Basically i'm just not sure what happens to me now. I forgot to write the license plate number down, but I just forgot about it because I was in a hurry, and I figured the guy would do something. I'm guessing he wrote down my license plate number, but is this still considered a hit and run? I am not sure
